Easy Single Image Upload for Award and Trophy Products, No Need to create Thumbnails and Large Images?
Synopsis of this Feature:
If you have ever used a prepackaged shopping cart software program, you may have run into issues such as any of the following:
- Must upload a thumbnail and larger image version for each product
- Must upload an image and then request thumbnails to be created
Of course this is a very tedious process to have to have two sets of images, one for thumbnails and one for larger images as you have to create two separate sets of images. Luckily shopping cart development companies have started to realize that there are more efficient ways to accomplish image management, but unfortunately there are still many shopping cart software systems that are not keeping up.

According to the AwardsCart® Screen shot shown below, it appears you have to manually make the request for thumbnail images to be generated by using a three step process.
In addition, there are naming requirements for the image and you must understand how to FTP your images to a particular folder on the server. Then you must scan the folder to start the process. This screen shot at AwardsCart® also shows that this is a 3 step process, this screen shot being step 1 of 3.
There also appears to be a lot of technical information on where images should be uploaded to, what they should be named, information about GDLib. Apparently GIF images are not re-sized if you upload GIF images.
Some questions you might ask yourself are:
- Do I need to use an FTP Program to upload my images?
- What is an FTP Program, and how do you use it?
- Is the FTP connection secured via SFTP?
- What if I accidently upload my images to the wrong folder?
- I'm not very technical. Isn't there an easier way then having to understand all this technical stuff about FTP, folders, GDLib, and such?
- All of my images are in GIF already? Do I have to spend hours converting them to JPG or PNG so they will be re-sized?
- How do I convert my images to JPG or PNG?
- What happens if I change an award and trophy product image and forget to generate thumbnails through this 3 step process? Will my web page look similar to the following without my image thumbnails?
