Awards Shopping Cart Designed 100% ground up for Awards and Recognition Industry?
Synopsis of this Feature:
Historically, one of the largest problems the awards industry has faced was the lack of availability of an awards shopping cart solution that had all the needed features to effectively receive orders online from their customers, and software geared to the way the awards store does business. The awards industry is a very unique industry with some extremely unique requirements. NetSoft Studio has reviewed many already available shopping cart applications and found the level of feature support for the awards industry simply was not there.
So what is the solution? The solution is to design one from the ground up specifically for the awards industry to help those in the industry become e-commerce enabled with an awards shopping cart software solution.
BizWizard ShopKart™:
NetSoft Studio Software designed, developed, coded every line of code in BizWizard ShopKart™ from the ground up beginning with the very first line of programming code starting in July 2007. NetSoft Studio had already spent hours investigating shopping cart programs available on the market that are prepackaged solutions and found that none of them had the features necessary to support the awards and recognition industry. Whereas it would have been easier to use a prepackaged software and simply private label it, we wanted to have something of quality that would meet the needs of the awards industry.
As part of the development effort of BizWizard ShopKart™, several trophy stores acted as beta testers and had input and feedback on the development from the very beginning. Two Awards Stores located in California, one awards store located in Nevada, one awards store located in Minnesota, one awards store located in Connecticut and one awards store located in Australia participated in the initial development as beta testers and/or consultants of features for BizWizard ShopKart™ and had significant impact on its design and functionality to bring a superior awards shopping cart web site software to everyone in the awards and recognition industry.
BizWizard ShopKart™ was released to a small audience in December 2008, and debuted to the rest of the Awards and Recognition Industry in February 2009 at the ARA International Awards Market in Las Vegas where BizWizard ShopKart™ won 2nd Place in the New Technology category.
AwardsCart®:
We wanted to determine if AwardsCart® was designed from the ground up for the awards and recognition industry so we did a little research. When we examined in detail what AwardsCart® was built on, we found that from appearances, AwardsCart® may be pre-packaged software that was private labeled and may have had minor code modifications. Here is the investigation steps we went through.
- First we went to the buy-trophies.com web site, which appears to be a demonstration site for AwardsCart®.
- Then we looked at the source code by right clicking anywhere on the page that is not an image and selected "View Source". This will reveal to us what you cannot see on the AwardsCart® demonstration web pages themselves. Oftentimes, when someone or a company purchases open source style software or developer licenses to software and then private labels it, they will forget a comment in the source code here and there which will reveal something about the code itself.
- We looked for comments in the code to see if we could find any evidence of another company that may have done some development on the AwardsCart® code. Comments will typically reveal something hidden and not seen because comments do not show up on the web page itself but are visible in the source code only which is why you have to view the web pages source code to find the comments.
In the comments of the source code at the "buy-trophies.com" AwardsCart® Demonstration Web Site, we found the following line:

Evidently some of the code on the buy-trophies.com site was modified by someone who identified him/herself as "feeling" presumably an employee at Easy4Host.com™. So this prompted us to see what we could find at easy4host.com. We did this by participating in an online chat with a representative at easy4host.com. The representative we chatted with was named Anna. We were able to obtain from Anna at easy4host.com that they are a reseller of the original designer of the shopping cart software named PinnacleCart which is not an awards and recognition industry specific shopping cart program, and it was developed by a company named Desert Dog Software, LLC. Anyone can purchase or lease the same non-awards industry specific shopping cart software as offered by AwardsCart® simply by purchasing or leasing the same software from a company named Desert Dog Software, LLC.

Then we compared screen shots of the administration screens for PinnacleCart with screen shots of the administration screens for AwardsCart® demonstration site. So what we have been able to confirm is that AwardsCart® is the PinnacleCart Software that has been private labeled and may have had some minor modifications made to it so that it looks like an awards shopping cart software program. PinnacleCart was not designed ground up for the awards and recognition industry, and since AwardsCart® is the PinnacleCart software with an Awards and Recognition Name, it was not designed ground up for the awards and recognition industry either. AwardsCart® Software is PinnacleCart Software that has been private labeled by Trophy ToolBox, Inc. and pre-loaded with products with maybe some modifications to the original PinnacleCart software code.
AwardsCart® was released March 15, 2010 according to the AwardsCart® FAQ as shown in the below screen shot:
