Awards Shopping Cart has Built-In Trophy Builder Technology?
Synopsis of this Feature:
In the awards and recognition industry, customers need to have the ability to customize their award or trophy product. This goes without saying that selecting a different figure, or column or a different trophy base, trophy plate, or in the case of plaques, portrait or landscape orientation, choice of plate on top of the plaque. In the case of medallions, which neck ribbons or pin drape does the customer want? Almost every product in the awards industry has components or options that need to allow for the customization of the award or trophy product.
Especially in the case of trophies, the customer needs to have ability to customize the trophy and see a sample of the components to be able to see what the product would look like.

Now lets look at a trophy from the AwardsCart® demo site and see if we can customize the trophy. In AwardsCart® FAQ, it states they have Build-A-Trophy® technology. The following is a screen shot from their FAQ Page.
So,we tried to customize a trophy on their demo site, however were unsuccessful at finding an example of how to do it. In the following video you will see that we will click on various tabs and try everything we can. We could not find any way to customize the components of this trophy product.
What we did in the following video was select an award and trophy product that tells us in the description:
"You can even choose a different column color such as Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Purple, Black, Silver or USA.
If you want a different sports figure instead of Bowling, then you can build your own trophy by selecting your own figure type of either Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Football, Cheer, Golf, Hockey, Cars, Bikes, Racing, Track, Karate, Gymnastics, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Lacrosse, Swimming, Coach, Team Mom, Religion, Academics, Music, Drama, Dance, USA, or Eagles. "
We were unable to find any way to customize the trophy.
- We tried clicking on all the tabs.
- We tried seeing if we can customize it during checkout.
- We tried to see if there was another link on the page to allow us to customize it.
- We simply could find a way to do it.
So, AwardsCart® FAQ says you can, even the product description says you can. But the question is "How?" See the following video where we tired to find an example of this feature:
UPDATE 6/26/2010:
On June 26, 2010, we were able to see an example of the trophy building technology that we assume is being referred to in the AwardsCart® FAQ. As part of our video below you will notice that the selection of trophy components seems to be limited to only the trophy figure. In addition, the buyer must select a figure, then click on the magnifying glass to see what that figure looks like. If they don't like that figure, they must select another figure from the pull-down list and then click again the magnifying glass again to see what the figure looks like. This process must be repeated by the buyer until they find a figure they wish to have on their trophy.

Something else we noticed was we could only find one such trophy that let us switch out trophy figures. There were many other trophies, but they were not customizable. In no case could we find a way to customize the columns, bases, trims, risers or trophy plates.
