We then tested the NorthPoleAwards.com server three times also using the exact same tool and at the exact same time. The ping results in NorthPoleAwards.com site show no packet loss on first test, only 10% packet loss from one location in Russia on the second test, and on the third test it showed 10% packet loss from Sweden and Russia. AwardsCart® appears to be provisioned on LiquidWeb Network based upon a lookup of who owns the IP Address for buy-awards.com as well as documentation on their web site. This means, AwardsCart® sites are not located directly on the NTT Global Tier I Backbone.

AwardsCart® had major data packet loss on the same ping tests as shown in the screen shots below. What does this mean? data packet loss results in slow connectivity and/or no connectivity at all depending upon the severity of the packet loss. In Its simplest term, its network un-reliability

UPDATE 6/27/2010:
n the past couple of months, it would appear that a few more sites have cropped up in the Google Searches for what appears to be AwardsCart® Provisioned Web Sites. So we want to provide a comparison of Network Connectivity to each of these AwardsCart® sites and also compare to BizWizard ShopKart™ customers that are geographically located as close as possible to those AwardsCart® Customers place of business.

Packet Loss is going to happen from various places in the world. There are many factors that will effect packet loss that are outside the control of the hosting provider. However, if you run a ping test report side by side, around the same time of day (literally within seconds of each other) you will gain a very accurate comparison of how various locations in the USA and the world accesses a web site. Data Packet loss will cause a slowdown in the speed of the network traffic. It won't necessarily mean the site is offline, rather simply will cause a site to appear slower to those browsing the site because when data packets are lost, they must be resent again.
